10 Unconventional Ways to Hang Art | Apartment Therapy.

Apartment Therapy posted some nice suggestions on hanging art.  Some of these are more successful than others.  I am a big fan of propping artwork on a mantle or a bookshelf.  And I love a picture ledge.  Any installation that encourages a collector to interact with their collection and find new relationships between pieces is wonderful.  The work feels fresh and the collector becomes a curator.   My kids were always thrilled when we installed their latest masterpiece next to a well known artist’s painting.  A salon-style wall is wonderful, it can begin with just two or three things and evolve into an collection that fills a wall end to end and floor to ceiling.  I would not recommend hanging art on a door, unless it is always stationary as it is not very safe and a fall could damage your art.

Collecting art is a journey – have fun along the way!  Happy installing!
